Assam Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Pijush Hazarika warned against attempts to create a separate land or identity within Assam. He clearly said that there is no such thing as “Miyaland” and that Assam belongs to its people, not to illegal encroachers or those backed by foreign or anti-national lobbies.
The minister said, “Miyaland will never exist. Assam belongs to its people, not illegal encroachers backed by delusional lobbies.”
Hazarika also crticized Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, who been gaining popularity on social media platforms in Pakistan. “When an MP from Assam becomes a poster boy in Pakistan and gets cheered by enemy media ; it’s not pride, it’s a national disgrace,” Hazarika said, adding that such things are deeply painful for those who love the country.
He further said, “We have seen this with our own eyes. The Chief Minister has been warning about this for a long time. He has been talking about Pakistan and the links between such groups and foreign support. Now we are watching it unfold openly.”
Hazarika also mocked Gogoi calling him the hero of Pakistan, " When an MP from Assam becomes a hero of our enemy nation , it is a matter of disgrace and not pride. It is infact a national shame."
This is not the first time the issue of “Miyaland” has come up in Assam politics. Earlier, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had also strongly criticized such ideas. He has frequently said that Assam’s land, culture and identity cannot be compromised under any circumstances.
