As political parties across Assam step up preparations ahead of the upcoming elections, Morigaon Assembly constituency MLA Ramakanta Deuri has presented an account of the development works undertaken by him over the past few years, drawing widespread appreciation from local residents.
Recently, the construction of a public Rabhaghar at Niz Kapahera has generated considerable enthusiasm among the people of the area. According to available information, an initial government grant of Rs 10 lakh was sanctioned for the construction of the Rabhaghar near the Niz Kapahera Public Raas Mandir. However, as the allocated amount proved insufficient to complete the project, MLA Ramakanta Deuri reportedly spent an additional Rs 18 lakh from his personal funds to ensure its completion.
Local residents told the media that the Morigaon MLA has not limited his efforts to this project alone. He has consistently prioritised the development of community infrastructure such as namghars, temples and other public facilities across the constituency. A senior resident stated that although Niz Kapahera earlier fell under the Batadrava constituency, Ramakanta Deuri has undertaken several development initiatives in the area, which had remained neglected during previous regimes.
A local youth remarked that Deuri is not merely a public representative but is viewed as a “god-like figure” by many poor, underprivileged and ailing residents of the region. He is said to have stood by the people during times of distress, earning their trust and goodwill. Residents of Niz Kapahera expressed hope that Ramakanta Deuri would be re-elected as their MLA in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
The development initiatives undertaken by the MLA have now become a subject of discussion across the Morigaon constituency, with his public welfare-driven approach further reinforcing his popularity among the electorate.
