Mortal remains of renowned flutist Dipak Sarma brought to Guwahati for final rites

The mortal remains of celebrated Assamese flutist Dipak Sarma, who passed away in Chennai on Monday morning, were flown to Guwahati on November 3 aboard a special chartered flight.
The flight carrying the late musician’s body left Chennai around 5 a.m. and reached Guwahati shortly after. Upon arrival, his remains were taken to his residence at Ambikagiri Nagar, where family members and close associates performed traditional rituals.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., his body will be kept at Seuj Sangha, allowing fans, cultural bodies, and admirers to pay their last respects to the acclaimed artiste who enriched Assam’s musical heritage with his soulful flute renditions.

After the public homage, the mortal remains will be taken to Navagraha crematorium for the final rites.
Dipak Sarma, 57, succumbed to a rare liver ailment at a Chennai hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for several weeks. He was earlier admitted to a Guwahati hospital before being airlifted for advanced care.
