Nagaon bypoll: Tension erupts at Juria booth over alleged vote-switching

Tension erupted at a polling station in Juria in Assam's Nagaon district on October 6 after Rupohihat MLA Nurul Huda arrived at the Boguriguri Higher Secondary School polling centre amid allegations of vote-switching.
According to reports, the situation turned tense soon after Huda reached the polling station. A heated confrontation reportedly broke out over allegations that votes were being switched at the booth.
The allegations led to a commotion at the polling centre, with the situation escalating between those present at the spot.
Details of the alleged vote-switching and the circumstances that led to the confrontation were not immediately clear.
Polling is underway across the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday, with 15 candidates in the fray. The constituency has around 19.02 lakh eligible voters and 2,112 polling stations.
Voting began at 7 am and is scheduled to continue until 5 pm, with counting of votes set for October 9.
