Renowned percussionist and co-band member of late music icon Zubeen Garg, Raja Boruah, has voiced confidence in the ongoing probe into the singer’s untimely death.
Speaking during Garg’s 13-day Adyashraddha ceremony held at Jorhat Stadium on October 1, Boruah welcomed the recent arrests of Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser of the North East India Festival, and Siddharth Sharma, the late singer’s manager. Both were taken into SIT custody in connection with the investigation into Garg’s death.
Boruah expressed gratitude to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for acting swiftly on his commitment to ensure justice. “The Chief Minister is handling the case with utmost seriousness and has initiated all possible legal procedures without delay. He has assured that justice will prevail and that those responsible for Zubeen’s death will face the harshest punishment,” Boruah told India Today NE.
The percussionist stressed that negligence, if proven, should not be excused. “Negligence is a crime, and those accountable must face stringent action. If the law fails to deliver justice, the public will rise, and if the public fails, God Himself will take the right course,” he added.
Boruah, along with Garg’s supporters, reiterated that they have consistently demanded strict and transparent legal action against those allegedly responsible for the singer’s demise.
