A Buddhist monastery has been constructed in the village of Machey Gaon, located 6 kilometers from Assam's Margherita town. The monastery stands as an example of devotion and determination as an educated Singpho woman, Jaha Singpho, led the construction using her personal savings.
Jaha purchased the land in 2017 and over the years, through dedication and hard work, transformed the space into a beautiful monastery that now stands as a beacon of spiritual peace.
She believes that constructing a Buddhist monastery brings spiritual merit, ensures family well-being, and fosters a life of peace and happiness.
To mark the journey, a grand two-day consecration ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Machey Gaon Buddhist Monastery on May 3 and 4. The event is expected to draw thousands of devotees from Assam and neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein will grace the occasion, alongside several other distinguished guests.
As the chief secretary of the Machey Gaon Buddhist Monastery Committee, Jaha Singpho has extended a heartfelt invitation to people from all sections of the Margherita constituency to attend the celebration and be part of the spiritual gathering.
