Deba Kumar Mishra, the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Rural) District, visited the remote Lampi area along the Assam-Meghalaya border on Saturday to assess the infrastructure challenges faced by locals. Mishra, who took charge on September 21, 2024, was previously the DC of Sonitpur District.
Accompanied by officials including Boko Revenue Circle Officer Divas Bardoloi, Block Development Officer Gangotri Neog, RHAC General Member Arjun Chetri, and Rangia Sub-Division Officer Devashish Goswami, the DC toured Upper Lampi, the last village on the border, approximately 28 km from Boko.
During the visit, locals highlighted critical issues such as the lack of high schools, the absence of ambulances for remote areas, poor internet connectivity, and the lack of drinking water access. Despite being home to around 4,000 people in seven villages, Lampi has struggled with inadequate healthcare, forcing patients, including pregnant women, to travel to Boko for emergency care.
