In a major development, for the first time ever, the state-of-the-art passenger train Vande Bharat Express entered Assam, starting its trial run on Jalpaiguri - Guwahati route on May 20.
The train identified by its numbers Up-22227 and Down-22228 will run six days a week and travel approximately 410 kilometers in just six hours. It is anticipated that this brand-new semi-high-speed train will significantly shorten the travel time between New Jalpaiguri and Guwahati.
Currently, the Rajdhani Express is the fastest train on this route, taking approximately eight and a half hours to complete the journey. Travelers can anticipate a faster and more effective mode of transportation with the Vande Bharat Express's introduction.
This development comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Odisha's first Vande Bharat Express via video conferencing. During a discussion of the initiative, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav revealed that PM Modi has set the goal of introducing Vande Bharat Express trains in almost all states by June of this year.
