Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr. Numal Momin said that people must place their faith in the Indian judiciary as investigations into the death of singer Zubeen Garg continue under the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Speaking to reporters, Momin said, “There is no alternative. We have to keep our faith in the Indian judiciary system. The Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, has already set up an SIT, and the investigation is going in the right direction.”
He expressed confidence that the inquiry, being monitored both by the SIT and a committee of judges, would yield positive results. “In due course of time, we can expect a good outcome from the SIT and the committee of judges,” he added.
Momin emphasised the seriousness with which the state government is handling the case. “Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is very serious about the matter. He has assured the people of Assam that if the SIT and other investigative agencies fail, he will refer the case to the CBI,” the Deputy Speaker said.
The statement comes amid ongoing public demand for justice following Garg’s death in Singapore last month. The Assam CID is leading the probe through a Special Investigation Team, which has already arrested five individuals linked to the case.
