BJP leader Harish Dwivedi on Monday, May 11, said no government had done as much for Assam after Independence as the BJP-led government has since 2016, as preparations continued for Chief Minister-elect Himanta Biswa Sarma’s swearing-in ceremony in Guwahati.
Speaking to reporters, Dwivedi said the BJP-led government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Himanta Biswa Sarma, had worked extensively for the development of Assam in sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, women’s empowerment and youth employment.
“After Independence, no government did as much work for Assam till 2016,” Dwivedi said, crediting the people of the State for giving the BJP-led NDA a strong mandate in the Assembly elections.
He said the NDA’s victory reflected public confidence in the leadership of Modi and Sarma, adding that the new government would work to fulfil the aspirations of the people over the next five years.
Dwivedi also said several senior BJP leaders, Union ministers and chief ministers from different States are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony scheduled to be held at Khanapara on Tuesday morning, May 12.
The BJP-led NDA has returned to power in Assam for a third consecutive term, securing a decisive mandate in the Assembly elections.
