Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has come down strongly on those allegedly attempting to create communal discord by placing cow parts in front of a temple. Addressing the incident, the Chief Minister questioned the logic behind believing that any Hindu would commit such an act and called out the Congress party for what he claimed was an attempt to shield disruptive elements.
Speaking to the media, Sarma stated, “Those who believe that a Hindu can slaughter a cow and place its head in front of a temple don’t deserve any reaction. This reflects a completely distorted mindset.”
He dismissed the possibility of BJP-RSS or Hindu groups being behind the act, saying, “How can BJP-RSS members or devout Hindus do something so contradictory to their belief? What about the rest of the cow's remains? We recovered all parts of the animal immediately after Eid. Even local residents admitted that it was the act of some misled youth from the area.”
The Chief Minister also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of siding with those who disrupt social harmony. “Congress has always tried to protect such elements. This has become Rahul Gandhi’s standard practice—he often defends people with divisive intentions, and in doing so, weakens the fabric of communal unity,” Sarma remarked.
