General Secretary and spokesperson of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Dharmeswar Ray, launched a sharp attack on the Opposition during a public address at Halongbari in Assam's Bajali on Monday, February 16.
Ray alleged that the Opposition cannot unite as long as Akhil Gogoi remains in the political landscape. He further claimed that several leaders from the Indian National Congress and the All India United Democratic Front are likely to join the AGP in the coming days.
Welcoming potential entrants from Opposition parties, Ray said the AGP is open to those who wish to join. He accused the Congress of causing “destruction at every step” and said the party is now facing the consequences of its past actions.
“The Congress does not resolve problems; it prefers to keep people entangled in them,” Ray alleged. He further claimed that the Congress has misled the public for 60 years and warned that worse days lie ahead for the party.
Ray also predicted a wave of resignations within the Congress, asserting that leaders would continue to quit the party as political developments unfold ahead of the elections.
