The second phase of the panchayat elections commenced peacefully today across 13 districts of Assam, with voters turning out in significant numbers since early morning.
Polling is being held from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM and, so far, the voting process has remained incident-free.
In Rangia constituency alone, which has a total of 1,87,027 registered voters, polling began at 265 designated stations.
Among these, 30 polling stations are being operated entirely by women officials — a move hailed as a step towards gender-inclusive governance.
One notable example is the 29 No. Rangia Murara Girls’ Primary School, where the voting process is being overseen solely by women.
Several female candidates cast their votes at this all-women polling station and expressed their commitment to advancing women's empowerment if elected.
Officials confirmed that the second phase has been proceeding smoothly with adequate security measures in place.
Election observers and local administrators are closely monitoring the process to ensure transparency and fairness.
The final turnout figures are expected to be announced after the conclusion of polling later in the evening.
