Patient allegedly left in ambulance for hours at GMCH; family seeks Assam CM’s intervention

A serious allegation has surfaced from the premises of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where a patient was reportedly left lying inside an ambulance for several hours without medical attention.

According to family members, the patient had arrived from Gohpur around 3:00 AM and remained inside the ambulance until approximately 11:30 AM. The relatives alleged that they ran from pillar to post at the CN Centre within the hospital complex, repeatedly requesting doctors and staff for urgent medical assistance, but did not receive timely help.

The family further claimed that a female doctor on duty allegedly misbehaved with them and treated the patient’s attendants in a rude and inappropriate manner when they sought intervention.

Expressing anguish over the incident, the patient’s relatives have appealed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to take strict action against the doctor concerned and ensure accountability in the matter.

No official statement from GMCH authorities had been issued at the time of filing this report.
