PM Udan scheme enhanced Assam's Lilabari Airport with improved regional connectivity, says official

The PM Udan scheme has enhanced Assam's Lilabari Airport by improving regional connectivity and promoting economic development, airport manager, Vijender Yadav said.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav said the initiative which aims affordable air travel has significantly benefitted the Lilabari airport.
He said, "PM Udan scheme has significantly benefitted Lilabari airport in Assam by enhancing regional connectivity fostering economic development. This initiative aimed at making connectivity air travel affordable and accessible to small town and region."
Furthermore, exalting that the scheme has led to increased connectivity in under utilised airports, the Lilabari Airport manager said that the development in turn boosts tourism.
"The scheme has directly improved the operational capacity of under utilised airports like Lilabari. Due to Udan scheme, Lilabari has increased connectivity which in turn boosts tourism. The scheme has transformed the airport into a crucial hub stimulating economic activities and improving quality of life by providing affordable air travel and tourism growth."
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma exalted the achievement of the scheme. He wrote on his X handle, "Over the last eight years, UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik), a vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister @narendramodi, has seen more than 2.8 lakh flights take off, carrying 1.5 crore passengers on 617 routes across 34 States and Union Territories."
The UDAN scheme full form is 'Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik. ' It is a regional connectivity project that connects rural areas of the country by plane at a reduced rate.
