He further stated that Assam’s per capita income, which stood at approximately Rs 85,000 in 2014–15, has increased to around Rs 1.90 lakh.
According to Saikia, the state has made substantial progress in its development journey and is advancing rapidly in alignment with the broader vision of a developed India.
Speaking about preparations ahead of the budget presentation, Saikia said the party had undertaken a consultative approach to gather public and sectoral inputs. He noted that a similar pre-budget meeting had also been organised last year.
Around 200 participants, including experts from sectors such as agriculture, education and healthcare, along with departmental representatives, took part in the discussions and shared their recommendations, he said.
Saikia further stated that consultations were also held with representatives from private and industrial sectors, with nearly 25 stakeholders providing suggestions. Several additional recommendations were also received in written form.
Emphasising the government’s welfare-oriented approach, Saikia said the forthcoming budget is expected to reflect the aspirations of the people and contribute to strengthening Assam’s ongoing developmental progress.
