Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and its leadership, declaring that there is "no hope" for the party to change or improve.
Speaking at a public event, Sarma said, “There is no hope for Congress to change and be better — not now, not ever. They're trapped in their old ways, so it's pointless to expect anything new or meaningful from them.”
Taking a pointed jab at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Chief Minister remarked, “Unlike him, I am Assamese — born and raised in Assam. I grew up nurtured by my mother, by the soil and soul of Assam. So, the joke's on him.”

Sarma, once a senior Congress leader himself, has frequently targeted his former party and its leadership after joining the BJP. His latest remarks are seen as part of the ongoing political sparring between the BJP and Congress ahead of key electoral battles in the region.
Congress has yet to officially respond to the Chief Minister's latest comments.
