NDA candidate Ranjit Kumar Dass on March 31 made a bold claim during his election campaign, stating that he would donate all his property to the CPI(M) if he loses the upcoming Assembly polls from the Bhawanipur–Sarbhog constituency.
Addressing a campaign gathering at Khairabari, Dass exuded confidence in his victory, saying, “My name is Ranjit, and this time I will win the battle.”
Taking a swipe at his opponent Manoranjan Talukdar, Dass rejected allegations that he had fled the constituency, asserting that his decision to contest from Bhawanipur–Sarbhog was aimed at directly challenging his rival.
He also claimed that Talukdar had indirectly conceded defeat on the day of nomination filing. “He himself draped a gamosa on me, which showed he had already accepted defeat,” Dass alleged.
The NDA candidate further said that no distractions or “entertainment” would affect his campaign this time, expressing confidence of securing a decisive mandate.
The Bhawanipur–Sarbhog constituency is witnessing a keen contest in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, with candidates intensifying their campaigns ahead of polling.
