Retired Karimganj court employee dies in suspected train accident in Assam's Hailakandi

A 65-year-old retired court employee, identified as Prahlad Chandra Das, died in a suspected train accident in the Saidband area near Hailakandi town, with the exact circumstances of his death yet to be ascertained.
Das was a retired employee of the Karimganj court and had been living in Ward No. 1 of Hailakandi town after his retirement.
According to local sources, he had travelled to Guwahati for personal work and was returning to Hailakandi when the incident reportedly occurred in the Saidband area. Locals suspect that he may have fallen from a moving train, although the cause of death has not been officially confirmed.
Residents spotted the body lying beside the railway tracks and alerted the police. Personnel from Hailakandi Police and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) reached the spot and recovered the body.
A PAN card, voter identity card and mobile phone were reportedly found near the body.
The body was later sent to Hailakandi Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police and the RPF are investigating the incident to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Hailakandi town.
