Rs 4.28 crore ‘Gourav Path’ inaugurated in Margherita, boosts urban connectivity

Strengthening urban infrastructure in eastern Assam, the Assam Government on January 21, inaugurated the ‘Gourav Path’ road project in Jayanagar under Ward No. 1 of Margherita town, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 4 crore 28 lakh 20 thousand. The 840-metre-long road has been built under the Chief Minister’s Urban Pucca Road Construction Scheme and executed by the Public Works (Roads) Department.
The road was formally inaugurated by Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma during a well-attended ceremony held in the presence of local residents. Addressing the gathering, the MLA underscored that the effective implementation of development schemes is only possible with the active cooperation and support of the public, adding that the project reflects the government’s commitment to improving civic amenities in urban areas.
The programme was presided over by Shashidhar Shyam, President of the Margherita Senior Citizens’ Association. Several dignitaries and prominent local figures were present, including Margherita Municipal Board Ward Commissioner Satya Ranjan Kakoty, senior citizen Somamoni Singh, Bhaskar Sharma Fans Club President Jyotish Rai, BJP leader Sukhdev Sharma, Simanta Madhav Katoky, Bhim Karmakar, Tara Prasad Dehingia, Margherita Municipal Chairman Anand Kumar Sharma, Vice Chairman Rajlakshmi Devi, journalist Partha Pratim Goswami, along with other respected members of the community.
The newly inaugurated Gourav Path is expected to significantly improve road connectivity in Jayanagar, enhance ease of movement for residents, and contribute to the overall urban development of Margherita town.
