The residents of Tokunabari village in Assam’s Morigaon district continue to face severe hardships due to the non-construction of a road in the Hatimuriba locality. Although a signboard has been installed at the site, indicating the presence of a proposed road, no construction activity has taken place, even years after the promise was made.
For over four years, the villagers—comprising daily commuters, elderly individuals, and school-going children—have been navigating through muddy and waterlogged terrain, particularly during the rainy season. The lack of a proper road has disrupted daily life and remains a persistent source of inconvenience and frustration.
Local residents have expressed their disappointment over the inaction of their elected representative, alleging gross negligence in addressing a basic infrastructure requirement. Despite repeated appeals and public outcry, there has been no visible progress or official clarification regarding the delay.
Villagers have now renewed their appeal to the district administration and state authorities, urging them to expedite the road construction process. The signboard, once seen as a sign of hope, now stands as a symbol of unfulfilled promises.
