Silchar civic polls: Activist alleges candidates submitted fake educational certificates

Allegations of forged educational qualification certificates have surfaced ahead of the Silchar Corporation elections, with local social activist Nikhil Das claiming that several candidates from different political parties submitted allegedly fraudulent certificates along with their nomination papers.

Das said he obtained details through the Right to Information (RTI) Act and has been pursuing legal action against candidates whom he alleges submitted forged educational documents.

According to Das, the alleged irregularities involve candidates belonging to both the BJP and Congress. He claimed that in some cases, candidates' educational certificates show that they obtained degrees from universities before the institutions were formally established.

Das alleged that BJP candidates, including Papli Karmakar, Sumana Das and Ataur Rahman, submitted nomination papers containing such educational qualification certificates. He said the discrepancies came to light through information obtained under the RTI Act.

The activist said he would continue his legal battle against candidates allegedly involved in submitting forged educational documents.

The allegations come ahead of the Silchar Corporation polls, where candidates from several political parties are contesting for seats in the civic body.
