Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi delivered a fiery speech during a public rally at Salikanda in Baksa, strongly criticizing the BJP government while distancing himself from AIUDF.
Addressing a massive gathering, Gogoi said, “I have stopped listening to AIUDF long ago.” He accused the ruling BJP of rampant corruption, echoing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remark that the party was not only involved in cattle smuggling but also in “stealing votes.”
Speaking on the sensitive issue of illegal migration, Gogoi asserted that Assam cannot accommodate even a single Bangladeshi national. However, he stressed that the Congress would never allow religious minorities to face harassment in the name of identifying Bangladeshis.
Outlining his vision, Gogoi said, “We dream of building a new and greater Assam.”
When questioned by journalists on the possibility of forging pre-poll alliances, Gogoi launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, remarking that Congress never contests elections “in isolation.”
The Congress leader attended multiple rallies on the same day at Koklabari, Salbari, and Mathanguri in Baksa, where he sought to energize the party cadre and connect with grassroots supporters.
