Student killed as speeding vehicle hits two-wheeler on NH-27 in Assam's Rangia

A teenage student died, and her father was critically injured after a speeding luxury vehicle struck their scooter on National Highway 27 near Balagaon early on November 16.

Police said the vehicle, yet to be identified, hit the scooter while it was crossing the road and dragged both riders for nearly 100 feet before fleeing. The impact killed Moushumi Rahman, a promising student from Bongagaon, at the scene.

They were travelling to Rangia Railway Station to check on Moushumi’s younger sister, who studies in Hojai.

Traffic officials have begun an investigation and are reviewing available leads to trace the vehicle involved. Moushumi’s body has been sent to GMCH for post-mortem examination.
