Students’ Union ABMSU stages five-hour protest in Assam's Chirang over Lafikul Islam Ahmed murder

The All Bodo Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) staged a five-hour sit-in protest in front of the District Commissioner’s office in Kajalgaon, Chirang district, demanding the severest punishment for those responsible for the killing of Lafikul Islam Ahmed.

The protest was organised by the organisation’s central committee, which has declared Ahmed a martyr.

The ABMSU demanded a fresh investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the murder and sought that the trial be conducted in a fast-track court.

Lafikul Islam Ahmed was shot dead at Titaguri in Kokrajhar district in 2017.

The organisation reiterated its demand for a speedy trial and strict punishment for those responsible for his killing.
