Amid the ongoing political row in Assam, Congress MP and state party president Gaurav Gogoi launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, alleging that the latter has been “panicked” since the recent press conference by senior Congress leader Pawan Khera.
Gogoi accused the Chief Minister of resorting to abusive language and attempting to intimidate journalists and media owners, asserting that political power cannot be used to suppress the truth. He claimed that Sarma’s recent reactions reflected desperation rather than confidence.
“Since Pawan Khera’s press conference, the Chief Minister appears panicked. He has been making abusive remarks and threatening journalists and media owners. Power cannot be used to suppress the truth,” Gogoi said.
The Congress leader further stated that more details and what he described as “shocking allegations” are expected to emerge in the coming days, intensifying the political confrontation between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress in the state.
The remarks come amid a broader controversy surrounding allegations made by Pawan Khera regarding passport and property disclosures linked to the family of the Assam Chief Minister. The Sarma family has strongly denied these claims, terming them “AI-generated fabrications.”
As of now, there has been no immediate response from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding Gogoi’s latest allegations.
