Following the swearing-in of Himanta Biswa Sarma as Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term, his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sharma on Tuesday, May 12, expressed gratitude to devotees, party supporters, and the people of the state for once again placing their faith in the BJP-led alliance.
Speaking in Guwahati after the oath-taking ceremony, Riniki said the mandate received by the alliance was historic and reflected the people’s trust in development-oriented governance.
“The mandate is historic; this has not happened in so many years. We are grateful to Maa Kamakhya Devi and to the people of Assam for showing their trust. The public has voted in favour of progress and development,” she said.
She added that the people have shown immense faith in Sarma’s leadership and prayed that he continues to receive strength to work for the welfare of the people of the state.
“I pray that the Almighty gives him strength so that he can continue working for the people,” she said.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance registered a decisive victory in the Assam Assembly elections, paving the way for Sarma’s second straight term as chief minister. The swearing-in ceremony in Guwahati was attended by several senior NDA leaders, chief ministers from across the Northeast, and party dignitaries.
