Security forces have detained three youths who were allegedly preparing to join the banned militant outfit ULFA (Independent). The arrests were made in Kharsang, Arunachal Pradesh, following inputs that the trio had been in contact with self-styled ULFA(I) leader Arunodoy Dohotia.
The detained individuals have been identified as Nabutam Baolary, Jayanta Konwar, and Monjit Neog, all residents of Maithong village under Kakopathar in Assam’s Tinsukia district.
According to officials, the youths had reportedly been hiding in Kharsang for the past five days, awaiting further instructions to formally join ULFA(I). Security agencies are currently interrogating the trio to trace their communication links and identify the network involved in attempting to recruit them.
Authorities have intensified surveillance along the Assam–Arunachal border to curb similar recruitment attempts.
