Ticket race heats up in Assam's Dhubri as Congress hopefuls hold bike rallies

Political activity has intensified in Assam’s Dhubri district as leaders and aspirants of the Indian National Congress stepped up efforts over party nominations ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

The developments unfolded with the arrival of party observer and Odisha MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, who is part of the Congress screening committee overseeing candidate selection in the region.

According to local sources, several ticket aspirants gathered with their supporters at Hotel Atithi in Dhubri to press their claims for party nominations. 

The aspirants also organised motorcycle rallies across the town, apparently to demonstrate their political strength and grassroots backing.

Political mobilisation around party tickets has begun to pick up pace across the state, with only a limited time left for the 2026 Assembly elections. 

The activity in Dhubri has intensified, particularly after the Congress announced its candidate for the Gauripur Assembly constituency, prompting aspirants in neighbouring constituencies to lobby strongly for nominations.

The arrival of Ulaka in Dhubri triggered a surge in activity, with multiple aspirants turning up with large groups of supporters, hoping to influence the screening process and showcase their organisational strength within the party.
