A symbolic foundation post for the upcoming joint session of the Kamrup District Rabha Students’ Union, Rabha Mahila Parishad, and the Sixth Schedule Demand Committee was ceremonially erected at the Milaghat playground in Bamunigaon under the Boko-Chaygaon constituency on Monday, November 3. The two-day session is scheduled to be held on December 20 and 21.
The foundation post, contributed by villagers of Ouphula, was carried nearly one and a half kilometres to the venue with active public participation under the leadership of the Rabha Students’ Union. The event saw enthusiastic community involvement, reflecting the growing unity among Rabha organisations.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Kamrup District Rabha Students’ Union president Ananda Rabha, general secretary Ashok Nongbak, vice-president Namal Kumar Rava, and RHAC executive members Aditya Rabha, Nagarmal Swargiary, Ajit Rabha, and Minati Boro. Also present were ARSU vice-president Pradip Rabha, Kamrup District Rabha Mahila Parishad president Lalita Rabha, and reception committee leaders Mahendra Mohan Das and Lakhikanta Rava.
Recalling Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s earlier assurance, speakers highlighted that the tripartite meeting involving the Union Home Ministry, Assam Government, and Rabha leadership—meant to discuss RHAC’s inclusion under the Sixth Schedule—has yet to take place. The meeting, promised for October–November, has reportedly seen no progress.
Addressing the gathering, Ananda Rabha expressed concern over the delay and said the upcoming session would hold extensive deliberations on the issue, which remains central to the aspirations of the Rabha community.
