In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Dhubri Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized a large quantity of contraband during a raid conducted in the Jhagrarapa Part-I area on June 14.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from Dhubri Sadar Police Station carried out a targeted operation at the residence of Noor Alam Haque, a resident of Jhagrarapa Part-I. During the raid, police recovered a substantial quantity of narcotic tablets and psychotropic cough syrup formulations.
Another suspect, Tapan Chandra Shil of Khalilpur, was also found at the location and was taken into custody along with Haque.
According to police sources, local residents had repeatedly raised concerns over the alleged drug-related activities of the duo, accusing them of operating an illegal drug distribution network in the area.
Both accused have been detained and are being interrogated by Dhubri Police as part of an ongoing investigation. Authorities are now working to trace the source of the seized contraband and identify other individuals linked to the network.
The operation forms part of the district police's intensified campaign against narcotics and illegal drug trafficking, which has led to several successful seizures and arrests in recent months. Further investigation is underway.
