A devastating fire incident triggered panic in Assam’s Bongaigaon district after a tyre repairing shop was completely gutted by flames in Jogighopa, causing substantial property damage and raising suspicions of foul play.
The fire broke out at Kabaitari area under Jogighopa, reducing a tyre repair shop owned by Mahidul Rahman to ashes within minutes. According to preliminary information, the blaze spread rapidly, leaving no time to salvage any equipment or materials from the shop.
All vehicle tyres stored at the premises, along with costly repair machines and tools, were completely destroyed in the inferno. The estimated loss from the incident has been pegged at over Rs 2 lakh.
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be officially determined, local sources have expressed suspicion that miscreants
may have deliberately set the shop on fire. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of arson and are expected to investigate the matter thoroughly.
Upon receiving information, Jogighopa police along with fire and emergency services rushed to the spot. Firefighters deployed two fire tenders and managed to bring the blaze under control after sustained efforts, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the fire and identify any involvement of anti-social elements.
