Veer Lachit Sena condemns alleged death threat to Assam CM, ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan in Morigaon

The Morigaon district committee of the Veer Lachit Sena, Assam, has strongly condemned an alleged incident in Bhuragaon in which a local resident reportedly issued a death threat against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on social media and allegedly raised slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” on Independence Day.

 

The alleged incident took place on August 15, triggering reactions across Morigaon district. The organisation described the reported remarks and slogans as serious and condemnable.

 

Speaking to the media, Veer Lachit Sena Morigaon district secretary Dipmoni Hira said issuing an alleged death threat against the Chief Minister and raising slogans in support of a hostile country on Independence Day amounted to a serious offence.

 

Hira said such an incident had brought questions over the law-and-order situation in the district. He also expressed concern that residents of Morigaon were embarrassed by the alleged incident occurring in the district.

 

The organisation further alleged that Bhuragaon and adjoining areas had witnessed several criminal activities in the past, including cybercrime, and claimed that the area had increasingly become a hub of criminal activities.

 

The Morigaon district committee of the Veer Lachit Sena has urged the Director General of Police, Assam, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene in the matter and ensure a thorough investigation.

 

The organisation has demanded that those responsible for the alleged acts be identified and that strict legal action be taken against them.
