A violent incident was reported in Kokrajhar on polling day, with alleged attacks on offices of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), triggering tension in the region.
According to ABSU, miscreants carried out an attack on its office, allegedly led by former NDFB leader M. Batha, along with members of the BPF youth wing. The organisation has levelled serious allegations regarding the involvement of these individuals in the incident.
In a separate but related development, unidentified miscreants also vandalised the ABSU’s Karigaon regional office during the night, causing significant damage to property.
The violence coinciding with the voting day has raised concerns over security arrangements in the district.
At least six ABSU members sustained injuries in the attacks. The injured have been identified as Irag Basumatary, Khouromdao Basumatary, Rabiram Narzary, Amao Uwari, Dansrang Brahma, and Chankhang Basumatary.
Further details are awaited as authorities assess the situation and initiate necessary action.
