A warehouse in Dhubri was burgled late on Monday night, April 20, with unidentified persons decamping with cash and goods worth several lakhs of rupees, police said.
The premises, located on Charman Road in Ward No. 4, belongs to Srinivas & Srinivas, an authorised stockist of ITC Limited. According to the police, the miscreants gained entry by breaking through the tin roof of the warehouse.
The stolen items include cartons of cigarettes, mobile handsets used for business operations, and cash, officials said.
The incident assumes significance as the same establishment was reportedly targeted in March this year, when cigarette cartons worth about Rs 22 lakh were stolen.
Owner Vishal Saraf lodged a complaint with the Dhubri Police after discovering the burglary on Tuesday morning. A police team visited the spot and began an investigation.
Traders in the area expressed concern over recurring thefts and sought enhanced night patrolling and surveillance in commercial localities. Police said efforts are on to identify those involved.
