Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while addressing the media at a programme in Dimoria on February 2, said there is no difference between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), asserting that both parties remain firmly united under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
“There is no difference between AGP and BJP. If AGP wins, the Chief Minister will be from BJP, and if BJP wins, the Chief Minister will again be from BJP. There is no scope for any clash in the future. The goal of both parties is to form an NDA government in Assam,” Sarma said.
Expressing confidence ahead of the elections, the Chief Minister said the NDA is expected to register a comfortable victory in Dimoria, stating that the people of the region continue to extend strong support to the alliance. “In Dimoria, we will win nicely, as the people here love us,” he added.
On the issue of seat sharing, Sarma said discussions with AGP are currently underway. “Talks on seat allocation are going on with AGP. Yesterday also I discussed the matter with Atul Bora and Keshab Mahanta. We will declare it soon,” he said.
The Chief Minister’s remarks reaffirm the BJP–AGP alliance’s commitment to contest the upcoming elections together and form the next NDA government in Assam.
