The Indian National Congress has named former All Rabha Students’ Union president Ramen Singh Rabha as its candidate from the newly constituted 28 No. Boko–Chaygaon Assembly constituency, as part of its first list of 42 nominees for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
Rabha’s candidature from Boko–Chaygaon is being seen as a strategic move by the Congress to consolidate support in the tribal-dominated belt. A known face in student and community leadership circles, Rabha has previously served as president of the All Rabha Students’ Union and has remained active in grassroots mobilisation.
Reacting to his nomination, Rabha expressed gratitude to the party leadership for reposing faith in him and pledged to work as a true representative of the people of the constituency.
“I will move forward with a commitment to serve the people of Boko–Chaygaon. With the collective support and blessings of the residents, I am confident of securing victory,” Rabha said.
The 28 No. Boko–Chaygaon seat, carved out in the recent delimitation exercise, is expected to witness a keen contest in the upcoming polls. Political observers note that the constituency’s demographic composition and local issues will play a decisive role in shaping the electoral outcome.
