AIUDF chief and MP Badruddin Ajmal has once again sparked controversy with his latest remarks regarding Gitashree Tamuly, the wife of Sivasagar MLA and Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi. Ajmal, while addressing the media, questioned whether an elderly woman should be called ‘young girl’ instead of ‘old woman’ as he attempted to justify his previous controversial statement about Tamuly’s age.
Pointing towards a young female journalist during his address, Ajmal remarked, "Is Akhil Gogoi’s wife young like her? If not, then what wrong did I say by calling her old?" He further added, "If I call Akhil Gogoi’s wife beautiful, gorgeous, or Miss India, will they withdraw the case against me?"
Ajmal’s comments have drawn severe backlash, particularly from Jatiya Nari Bahini, the women’s wing of Raijor Dal. Momi Roy Choudhury, General Secretary of the organization, has lodged a complaint against him in Bongaigaon, condemning his statements as offensive and derogatory.
Earlier, Ajmal had stated, "Akhil Gogoi’s wife is old, so I have nothing to say about her. If she had been young, I would have commented something. She is old, so what will I say?"
Reacting strongly, Momi Roy Choudhury criticized Ajmal’s resurfacing in Assam’s political landscape, alleging that he was being strategically deployed by his mentors despite his diminishing political relevance. She likened his political maneuvers to those of a "cunning fox," accusing him of deliberately making controversial statements to stay in the spotlight.
