KOHIMA: Lt Gen Anil Chauhan, GOC-in-C Eastern Command visited Spear Corps and Assam Rifles units and formations in Nagaland and Manipur for three days from April 27 to 29.

Lt Gen Johnson P Mathew, GOC Spear Corps briefed the army commander on the operational preparedness as well as counter-insurgency in Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.

Lt Gen Chauhan was also briefed on the status of the Framework Agreement in the ongoing Naga Peace Talks during his visit.

Lt Gen Chauhan also visited various Army and Assam Rifles headquarters of the Spear Corps in Nagaland and Manipur to assess the situation on the ground, where he was briefed by senior army officials.

He spent a lot of time with the men deployed in the Northeast's operating areas, and he praised their preparedness and people-friendly counter-insurgency operations.
