COMMEMORATION OF HEMCHANDRA BARUA ON HIS DEATH ANNIVERSARY IN GOLAGHAT

The entire state paid homage to Hemchandra Barua, a great writer,  lexicographer and social reformer of Assam on His 122nd death anniversary today. 1st May also marked as the ‘ Hemchandra Barua Smriti Diwas' commemorates the death anniversary of ‘Bhakhar Uja', Hemchandra Barua. Credited with the publication  of the Assamese English dictionary ‘Hemkosh’, this social reformer still shines as one of the brightest colours in Assam’s spectrum.

To pay tribute to this doyen of Assamese literature , the Golaghat Sahitya Sabha organized  a program in the ‘Abdul Malik Bhawan’ today. The program started with the hoisting of flag in the premises of the Bhawan followed by a meeting in it.
