NEW DELHI: India on Friday surpassed the United States in terms of the total number of persons who have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to the government.

As per Our World in Data, the number of people in India who have gotten at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine is currently higher than in the United States, according to Dr VK Paul, Member (Health), Niti Aayog.

According to the Ministry of Health, almost 60% of the older population has gotten at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination. According to data, 17.2 crore people in India have got at least one dose of vaccination.

The recovery rate has been steadily increasing and now stands at 93.1 percent, according to Lav Agrawal, Joint Secretary, Ministry Health on COVID-19 situation.

Lav Agarwal said, the number of districts reporting more than 100 new cases each day has been steadily decreasing. More than 100 cases are reported per day in 257 districts.

He also mentioned that 377 districts had a less than 5 per cent positivity rate.
