BENGALURU: Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa has tested positive for COVID-19 today.
The 78-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state chief is now infected with the virus for the second time. On August 2, 2020, Yediyurappa tested positive for Covid-19, and he was discharged after 8 days in a hospital.
He had been admitted to Bengaluru's Ramaiah Memorial Hospital for the past two days.
He tested negative for COVID-19 two days ago, however, he tested positive today. He was then transferred to Manipal Hospital.

“Upon having mild fever, today I got tested for COVID-19 and my report has come out positive. Although I am doing fine, I am being hospitalised based on the advice of doctors. I request all those who have come in my contact recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine,” the chief minister tweeted.

Before the positive test, Yediyurappa convened a meeting with top government officials at his official residence in the morning to discuss the measures to be taken to curb the state's growing number of cases.
State health minister K Sudhakar and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner Gaurav Gupta among others have attended the meeting.
