NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding a high-level meeting right now to discuss COVID-19 and vaccination issues.

This comes after the Union health ministry declared on Sunday that India had recorded 93,249 new COVID-19 cases and 513 coronavirus-related deaths in the previous 24 hours.

Sources said, the meeting will be attended by all senior officers, including the cabinet secretary, principal secretary to the prime minister, and health secretary Vinod Paul.

With these latest cases, the country's total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 1,24,85,509. With 513 new deaths, India's death toll now stands at 1,64,623. As of now, there are 6,91,597 active cases across the world.

On Saturday, 60,048 people were released after being rehabilitated, bringing the total number of people rehabilitated to 1,16,29,289 across the world.

On Saturday, 11,66,716 samples were examined, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). So far, a total of 24,81,25,908 samples have been analysed.

Meanwhile, the ministry of health and family welfare reports that a total of 7,59,79,651 people have been vaccinated in the country to date.
