Nagaland Covid-19 tally reaches 8,945, death toll at 33

Dimapur: The Covid-19 positive cases in Nagaland reached 8,945 with the detection of 51 new cases on Friday. There have been 33 deaths due to the virus.

“A total of 51 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected today - 32 in Dimapur, 16 in Kohima, two in Mokokchung and one in Tuensang,” principal secretary (home) Abhijit Sinha said in his briefing.

He said out of the 8,945 positive cases, 7,229 people have recovered while 1,596 cases are active. As per the severity of symptoms 1,518 active cases are asymptomatic, 57 mild, 16 moderate, three severe and two on ventilator.

Of the total positive cases, 3,878 cases are from the armed forces/ police, 1,653 returnees, 2,978 traced contacts and 436 frontline workers.

Sinha said a total of 61,607 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 60,439 samples have been received. Besides, 33,448 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat and results of 33,404 samples have been received, he said. Through rapid antigen test, 3,876 samples have been tested.
