AGARTALA: The Tripura government has imposed Rs. 1000/- fine for failing to maintain social distance in public and private transportation, among customers in front of shops by shopkeepers, as well as for violating home quarantine norms.

A fine of Rs 200 for the first violation and Rs 400 for subsequent violations for not wearing a mask or covering face has also been imposed by the government.

Besides the fines, the government has also imposed a night curfew in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area from 10 pm to 5 am tomorrow.

Furthermore, medical and other emergency needs, as well as persons responsible for maintaining essential services such as health, police, security, power supply, drinking water supply, and so on, may be exempted.

The DM (West) will issue a detailed order under Section 144 CrPC.

The order will be widely publicised, and strict enforcement measures will be taken.

Meanwhile, due to the serious COVID situation, job-related physical examinations and tests will be postponed.

The concerned departments will issue a notification in this regard.
