Shillong, March 4, 2019:

Teiñwell Dkhar, senior leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has been selected as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) for the Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Meghalaya.

Dkhar has selected for the post for the fourth consecutive time as MDC from Sheela Constituency. He is the present chairman of the KHADC and will be the CEM for one year.

The other suggestions for the post were Jaiaw MDC Paul Lyngdoh and Sohra MDC TW Chyne.

UDP President, Donkupar Roy, informed that in the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) that comprises of the UDP and HSPDP, four posts of KHADC Executive Member will be given to UDP while one post will go to the HSPDP.

As per the agreement with National People’s Party (NPP), the post for chairman and deputy CEM will go to NPP.

In the KHADC, UDP won six seats while its ally NPP has won seven seats.

According to reports, the oath-taking ceremony will be held on March 6, while the House will be in order by March 8.
