As election campaigns intensify in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has expressed strong confidence in securing a win from the Mathanguri constituency. AGP General Secretary Dharmeswar Roy asserted that the party’s candidate, Manmohan Das, is “one hundred percent certain” to win.
Addressing the media during a campaign event, Roy highlighted the persistent deprivation faced by the Adivasi community in BTR. “While the Bodo people have leaders like Pramod Boro and Hagrama Mohilary, it is AGP that has consistently stood by the Adivasi community,” he remarked.
Roy further emphasized that AGP envisions inclusive progress in the region—ensuring the dignity and rights of the Bodo people while also enabling the Adivasi community to advance politically, economically, and socially.
He also accused the current executive member of the Mathanguri constituency of indulging in widespread corruption and irregularities during their tenure, alleging that the region has been plagued by mismanagement.
