The wait is over—James Cameron has officially unveiled the trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third chapter in the blockbuster sci-fi saga, and things are heating up on Pandora.
This time, fans are introduced to two new tribes: the Ash People, led by the formidable Varang (played by Game of Thrones alum Oona Chaplin), and the Wind Traders. Unlike the oceanic Metkayina clan from The Way of Water, the Ash People bring a more aggressive energy. The trailer offers a peek at their leader’s intense confrontation with Kiri (Sigourney Weaver), where Varang declares, “Your goddess has no dominion here.”
Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana’s Neytiri return to lead their people once more, this time facing off against the Ash People in what looks like a brutal and personal battle. A quick moment shows Jake warning Neytiri about the cost of the coming war. Meanwhile, Spider (Jack Champion) finds himself caught in the middle of the chaos, again navigating his loyalty between worlds.
The humans are back in a big way too—and the trailer hints that Jake might be captured by them this time around.
The cast also includes familiar faces like Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Joel David Moore, Edie Falco, and Trinity Jo-Li Bliss. Cameron co-wrote the screenplay with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
Originally screened at CinemaCon in April and later tied to The Fantastic Four: First Steps theatrical release, the trailer was dropped online shortly after it leaked.
Cameron isn’t slowing down either. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s confirmed that Fire and Ash will run longer than The Way of Water, and he's already got release dates lined up for Avatar 4 (December 2029) and Avatar 5 (December 2031).
Avatar: Fire and Ash hits theatres on December 19, 2025, releasing in six languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
