Spider-Man 4 delayed to avoid box office clash with Nolan’s 'The Odyssey'

Sony Pictures has announced a slight shift in the release date of Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man film. Initially set for July 24, 2026, the untitled Spider-Man 4 will now swing into theaters on July 31, 2026. This move strategically places the film two weeks after the release of Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated epic, The Odyssey, which also stars Holland.

Helming the next chapter of the Spider-Man franchise is Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. While plot details remain under wraps, fans eagerly await Holland’s return as Peter Parker, especially after the multiversal events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. With Sony and Marvel Studios collaborating, expectations are high for another action-packed adventure featuring the beloved web-slinger.

Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, based on Homer’s legendary epic, is slated for release on July 17, 2026. The film follows the perilous journey of Odysseus as he struggles to return home after the Trojan War. Audiences can expect Nolan’s signature storytelling style, combining historical grandeur with intense character-driven narratives.

The film boasts an ensemble cast, featuring Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron. Recently, the first look of Damon as the legendary Greek hero surfaced on social media, adding to the film’s buzz.
