KABUL: The Taliban has allegedly blown up the statue of slain Hazara leader Abdul Ali Mazari in Bamiyan days after coming into power in Afghanistan, reports said.
Abdul Ali Mazari was killed Talibans back in 1995.
“So Taliban have blown up slain #Hazara leader Abdul Ali Mazari’s statue in Bamiyan. Last time they executed him, blew up the giant statues of Buddha and all historical and archeological sites,” tweeted Saleem Javed, a human rights activist.

The pictures of the destroyed statue have been doing rounds on social media creating outrage among Netizens.
Reportedly, Bamiyan is the same place where the Talibans had blown up statues of Buddha in 2001 following the orders of its then leader Mullah Mohammed Omar.
Mazari had contributed to a great extent in the fight against the Taliban. The prominent leader was abducted and later killed by the Taliban . He was posthumously given the title ‘Martyr Of National Unity’ in 2016.
